I'm Africa-bound. That's right, next week will see our first Rwandan adventure kick off with a 4-day ride from the capital, Kigali, to Volcanoes National Park, home of the country's most famous residents, those jungle-dwelling gorillas in the mist. With a small group of pioneers we'll pedal upwards of 40 miles a day on rough tracks, climbing in excess of 1,300 metres each day and sleeping in tea plantations, nunneries and even at the home of the Rwandan national cycling team. And when we get there we'll trek into the jungle to hang out with one of humankind's closest relatives.
It's been a while since I moved back from two years in Rwanda in 2013, and I'm excited to see how much it's changed. One thing that won't have altered much is how beautiful it is in the bush. And here's a video to whet your appetite.
