I was at the Stanfords Travel Writers' Festival this weekend, joining journalist Hannah Reynolds, Guardian cycling correspondent (and serious cyclist) William Fotheringham and very funny travel writer Tim Moore to discuss the joys and perils of long distance cycling. You can of course listen to the podcast although it's another panel discussion I'd like to recommend to you today.
It features campaigner, author and slow traveller Ed Gillespie, founder of Bloomsbury and author of Slow Road to Brownsville David Reynolds and The Times journalist Tom Chesshyre, who has island hopped (by slow boat) around the Maldives. The discussion is chaired by Adrian Phillips, MD of Bradt Travel Guides, who recently oversaw the commissioning of their Slow Travel series.
There are some great insights that, on this chilly Monday morning, have got me dreaming of the open road!
