Douglas Tompkins, RIP

We'd like to add our condolences to those being offered across the board to Douglas Tompkins, the co-founder of North Face, who died in a kayaking accident last week.

Reports around the circumstances of his passing are plentiful. We prefer instead to reflect on the inspiring life he led, growing North Face from a small shop in San Francisco to a hugely respected global brand; buying up swathes of land in Patagonia to ensure future generations will still enjoy them; spreading a love of adventure well into his 70s.

His company's mantra, "Never Stop Exploring", serves well as an epitaph and as a call to action for us all.
