CHARITIES & PARTNERS
We have supported various Romanian charities since we started working in the country, donating over £3,000 to their causes. In September 2018 we partnered with Fundatia ADEPT, a charity working to protect the unique landscape of the Tarnava Mare area in Transylvania, which is of European importance. The charity conserves the biodiversity of the grasslands and forests linked to sustainable agriculture and livelihoods, developing high quality local food products, rural tourism and traditional crafts. We help by supporting the maintenance of a network of cycling trails built by ADEPT over recent years; trails that enable our guests to access the most remote and beautiful parts of the region around Sighisoara.
KINAMBA COMMUNITY PROJECT
In 2018 we partnered with Kinamba Community Project in Kigali, Rwanda to help support the vital and inspiring work of Meg Fletcher and her local colleagues. Meg worked in primary education in the UK for 39 years before retiring and going to Rwanda as a VSO volunteer from 2006 to 2008. She founded KCP in 2009 to provide educational opportunities for the people of Kinamba, in Kigali. The genocide of 1994 had a devastating effect on the lives and futures of a large proportion of the community. This project offers hope to war widows, genocide orphans, the marginalised and vulnerable people of Kinamba. In January 2018 there are 80 students in the nursery, 135 supported students in primary education and 53 students at secondary level.
