Why The Slow Cyclist Exists

To travel is to enjoy a fundamental human desire and we believe in its power to change lives and be a force for good, give joy and forge friendships. We exist because we are passionate about contributing to all these things. We want to leave a healthy, happy planet for our children and future generations to enjoy.

Our Core Values

We are guided by the things we care about as a company, and as a group of individuals. Our core values are:

  1. Passionate about creating exceptional shared experiences – it all starts here, because it’s what we spend our days doing; and we love sharing the amazing places we find with you, our guests, in a way that enriches everyone.
  2. Advocates for a slower future – we believe in a more thoughtful, more considered, less profit-driven future and we’re happy to shout about our desire to be a cog in the great slowdown.
  3. Positively impact the people and communities whose lives we touch – The Slow Cyclist was born as an antidote to the mindless, mass-market travel ‘sector.’ All our stakeholders, from UK employees to local wine producers, must feel our influence is beneficial.
  4. Take action to care for the natural world – we travel with a light footprint, but we want to do more; to be part of a generation that begins to restore the planet.

“When I’m working on a problem, I never think about beauty. I think only how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong.”
